Mission Statement: The purpose of the society is to collect, preserve, study and exhibit those objects that will serve to illustrate the story of man and nature in Ponoka, as well as the Treatment and Care of the Mentally Ill in Alberta. The responsibility of the society is to tell the story of Ponoka from earliest beginnings to the present.

The museum is home to over 10000 artifacts, it can also serve as a place for meetings, gatherings, special events, group tours and traveling exhibits. In the past it has hosted events such as the Senior's Tea, Pie In Centennial Park and A Tribute To the Welsh.
Museum is closed on and after September 4th. Open by appointment for winter months.
Summer Events
A new display has been created to honour of the 100 years of Girl Guides in Canada, especially the 81 years in Ponoka.Scouting Display
We also have a new and unique display of cameras, old and new, that have been loaned to the museum for the summer from local collector Barry Neath. Camera Display
Fort Ostell Museum is hosting Lunch in the Park after the Stampede Parade on Friday, July 2, 2010 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Cost $5.00 per person. If raining, lunch will be served inside.
Saturday, August 7, 2010 2:00 - 5:00 PM is our Annual Heritage Day Tea and this year we are honoring immigrants from the British Isles. The cost for this event is $5.00 per person and will include beverage and museum tour.
