Fort Ostell Museum is looking for 2 creative, enthusiastic Museum/Program Assistants from mid-May to the end of August.
Summer Museum Assistant Duties include:

Education, Interpretation, Public Programming

Create and lead a summer program for children
-
Answer questions and provide in-house tours to visitors
-
Help plan museum’s 50th Anniversary celebration
-

Collections Management
-
Assist Museum Manager with collections software upgrade, including handling and processing artifacts
-
Develop video and slideshow presentations for interactive tablets in display areas
-
Clean and maintain display areas inside and outside the museum
-
-
Museum Administration and Marketing
-
Produce daily social media posts on Facebook and Instagram
-
Track visitor numbers and administer satisfaction surveys
-

Other
-
Maintain general museum cleanliness with occasional janitorial and gardening tasks
-
Partner with other community organizations (e.g. Town of Ponoka, Ponoka Youth Centre) to assist with programming at need

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

Strong teamwork and communication skills

Self-motivated and task-oriented
-
High standards of customer service
-
Experience teaching/working with children
-
A love of Canadian history
-
Comfortable with Office suite and social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram)

knowledge of CanvaPro an asset

Research experience

Must be a full-time student, returning to studies again in September
The nitty-gritty

$17.50/hr

30 hours/week

19 May – 21 August

Monday – Friday, 9-4 (possible occasional weekend)
